A visit from rugby legend Scarra Ntubeni

What a special day we had with Springbok player Scarra Ntubeni, who came to pay  Ukhanyo Primary School a visit.

Scarra – who is also a regular member of the Cape Town-based Stormers squad — was able to witness the great strides the school has made in terms of its sports offering, and observed the pupils immersed in their after-school activities. The kids and coaches shone as they were put through their paces on the astroturf and the cricket nets.

And he didn’t just come to see the sport, but was also given a tour of the hard work happening in the classrooms, including extra maths, English and chess club.

“This is the best township school I have ever seen,” he said. MasiSports couldn’t agree more! Thank you Scarra for taking time out of your extremely busy training schedule so that we could show you what the MasiSports project is all about, and demonstrate what a difference sports, education and life skills has made in the lives of Masi’s youngsters.

And many thanks must also go to headmaster Michael Tyhali for helping to create such an enabling environment.
