As the afternoon wore on during an important MasiSports workshop at Ukhanyo Primary, consisting of the departments of both Education and Sports, Arts and Culture with eight primary school principals and sports organisers, the sounds of singing interrupted the session.
It was the triumphant return of the Ukhanyo Primary junior choir celebrating their success. The Ukhanyo junior (grade 2) choir had competed in the Primary School infants competition at Zimasa Comprehensive School in Langa. The had won second prize for the African song (Thuto ke Lesedi) conducted by Mrs Mangqase and first prize for their Western song (A song of love is good) conducted by Ms Ndarhana. They were in high spirits!
Ukhanyo has such a spread of after-schools activities, from choir to tribal dance, organised by the school and eight different sports, hip-hop dance, chess and art organised by MasiSports. The children receive a proper holistic education. This is an incredibly special school.
