We love visitors

Representatives from the Western Cape Sports department admiring the new astroturf.

The children and staff of Ukhanyo love having groups of people coming to see the school at work and play. A drive through Masiphumelele is followed by an invariable meeting with the Principal Michael Tyhali, seeing the amazing Masicorp English and Maths labs, visiting a few classrooms, being shown the playing fields and then witnessing the seven sports in action.

It is breathtaking to see the trilogy of sport, life skills and education in action. The delight and enthusiasm of the children makes the trip worthwhile.

We have been fortunate to have many recent visits.

  • Signal Hill Rotary came in their numbers, and they have agreed that MasiSports will be the recipient of the funds raised in their annual Xmas raffle. Wonderful.
  • The sports committee and teacher/coaches of Masi High School came on the same day to see the variety of sports in action and to facilitate the handover of Grade 7 athletes to the High School in 2022, an important process for the sports kids.
  • Representative from the Western Cape Sports department visited to see the success of the after-school’s programme and to consider the possibility of further replication as Nkondlo and Westlake Primary schools have undertaken.
  • Claremont Rotary came to see the location of the concrete garage they are installing at Ukhanyo as a sports equipment room. So exciting. Andre Raath, from Claremont Rotary, was so impressed with what he saw that he is planning to put in a Hydroponic food garden mid next year. Brilliant.

We welcome visitors – so please WhatsApp Vince on 060 931 0758 to arrange a visit. It is inspirational to see underprivileged children revelling in life skills and sport and growing more confident before your eyes.
