On Saturday, 30 May, 49 learners, accompanied by educators from Masi High School, Ukhanyo Primary School, and MasiSports+ staff, attended the Artscape Theatre to attend the opera production Carmen.
For many of the learners, it was their very first experience of attending an opera production, making the outing both exciting and memorable. The production combined powerful music with captivating acting, energetic dancing, and compelling storytelling. Throughout the performance, the audience was taken on a journey that was at times humorous, dramatic, and ultimately emotional.
The learners were fully engaged from start to finish. The excitement continued long after the final curtain call, with lively conversations about the show filling the bus ride home. Judging by the smiles and enthusiasm, the experience left a lasting impression on everyone who attended.
Exposure to the arts allows learners to explore different forms of creativity, storytelling, and self-expression while building confidence and curiosity about the world around them.
Reflecting on the day, Nikiwe Ntsendwana, Sports Administrator at Masi High School, shared:
