We are so excited to see dance breathing a new breath of life into our cultural activities at Masiphumelele High.
At the heart of the programme is Mthetheleli Dlakavu, our new dance facilitator. With a background in dance choreography and yoga instruction, he brings creativity, energy and experience to our learners. We’re delighted to have him on board and look forward to working together to grow Dance at the school.
As Wendy Pikelela, MasiSports+ Programme & Partnerships Manager, shares:
“Dance is so much more than movement and performance. It gives young people a space to express themselves, discover their potential and build confidence. Along the way, they develop discipline, perseverance, creativity, teamwork and focus. Every new step, rehearsal and performance is an opportunity to learn, grow, support one another and believe in what is possible.”
As the our MasiSports+’ impact statement states: “Young people in Masiphumelele are self-sufficient, resilient, productively engaged individuals who meaningfully contribute to their communities.” and dance is a way to bring this to life.
We’re looking forward to seeing where this new journey takes our learners!
