Coach Teddy Nyali reports back on a great day of sport at Masi High:
What a fantastic day of sport yesterday when Masi High hosted Curro for friendly netball and soccer matches.
The first game was Masi High U/15 soccer girls against Curro girls and Masi won 6-0. The second game saw our U/15 soccer boys win 4-3 – what a thrilling encounter!
The last game was boys U/17. What a game! The game was goaless at half time, but in the second half both teams came on with fire and Masi managed to win 5-3.
Our under-15 and 17 netball teams both won their games convincingly against a stubborn and well-coached Curro side. It was a great start for our girls.
U/15 won 17-12
U/17 won 19-9
It was a lovely day of sport overall. The fans were cheering and singing songs, and we also had a few parents who attended.
I want to send a special thanks to Ukhanyo Primary coaches Fez, Nceba and Pam for their continued support and to Star, Lolo and Ngcupe for taking care of the soccer teams. Thanks to Tumi and Yonela for the incredible job you do for the netball girls, with the support of Fani and Msolo. Thanks to Aya and Alfred for preparing the fields before the games.
And then thank you to the school teachers who came out in numbers to support their learners; to Althea, Vince and Nolan who wished they could be there (there’s always a next time) and to the Ukhanyo teacher coaches who also would have been there if they’d known about it (Teddy’s fault!) And lastly, many thanks of course to our opponents who came all the way to give us very competitive matches and all around fun and happiness.
