Masi High cyclist Liyabona Madlkane was accompanied by MasiSports cycling coach ‘Sidney’ Lubabalo Begala to the SA youth championships in Oudtshoorn recently. Liyabona was picked after the WP Youth Championships in September, where she was one of three MasiSports riders who received medals and were on the podium.
Travelling to Oudtshoorn and into a new part of South Africa is the gift of sport, and she met riders from all over the country and competed with the best. Out of over 50 riders, she came a phenomenal 8th in the first race and 6th in the second.
Liyabona said: “The trip was amazing. I met so many riders from all over SA and we shared our stories. To compete against the best in SA was an incredible opportunity. Thank you, MasiSports.”
Sport opens up opportunities and gives learners a glimpse of the possibilities of success and a meaningful life post-school. Sport builds confidence and in this case, gives this teenager the sure knowledge that she is one of the best in her discipline in the country. Just imagine how that will positively influence her life.
MasiSports is so proud of her and grateful for Sidney’s dedication as a coach.
