From Goals to Galleries: Empowering Learners Through Collaboration

At MasiSports+, we believe that real change happens when organisations work together. Our partnership with Lalela shows how collaboration can help young people in Masiphumelele become more creative, confident, and open new opportunities.

MasiSports+ focuses on developing discipline, teamwork, and leadership through its sports and life skills program. Lalela brings creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression through art.

The art exhibition at the Masiphumelele Library on November 8th was a big success. It highlighted the importance of community involvement and showcased the incredible talent of our learners. Feziwe Payi from MasiSports+ said, “It was wonderful to see parents taking interest in their children’s artwork.” Firdous Hendricks, Executive Director at Lalela, and intern Phumelele both stressed how important parental support is in encouraging children to participate in extracurricular activities.

Additionally, the Lalela Female Empowerment Programme gives girls the tools they need to succeed in their lives, schools, and communities. This helps them become confident change-makers. Feziwe Payi noted, “Their programme aligns with the learners’ Life Orientation curriculum and covers topics like self-awareness, managing peer pressure, and empowerment. They invited our girl learners to join and gain valuable insights.”

Partnerships like this show how combining strengths can lead to greater impact: more learners reached, deeper engagement, and stronger community connections.

We continue to empower girls through sport, helping them build confidence, leadership, and opportunities both on and off the field.
