My name is Zandile Mnwesha, a 25-year-old vibrant young woman. In 2025, I was in my final semester at False Bay College, studying Management Assistant, when I received an opportunity that would change my path.
Through a referral from MasiSports+, I was selected for the SSCN Internship (Sports for Social Change Network)—and I grabbed it with both hands. I never imagined that this opportunity would lead me to where I am today.
My time as an intern was an incredible journey of growth and self-discovery. It opened my eyes to my potential and helped me realise that I am capable of so much more than I ever believed. I grew in confidence, found my voice, and learned how to engage meaningfully with others. For the first time, I truly saw myself as someone who could build strong relationships and thrive in professional spaces.
One of the highlights of my experience was attending a Career Path Networking Workshop with the MasiSports+ mental fitness and life coach. We explored self-mastery, career mapping, networking, and understanding our strengths. That space allowed me to reflect deeply on who I am and where I want to go.
Today, I am a YeBoneer (Library Champion) through Year Beyond—and I can honestly say I am having the time of my life. I never imagined myself in this position, but I am truly thriving. Every day, I draw on the skills and confidence I developed during my internship with MasiSports+.
My advice to future interns is simple: grab every opportunity, take it seriously, and learn as much as you can. You never know where it might lead.
