The food gardens at Ukhanyo Primary School and Masi High School are thriving, producing fresh vegetables that are harvested and used in the schools’ food kitchens to support nutritious meals for learners. These gardens have become an important part of creating healthier school environments and promoting wellbeing.
More than just a source of food, the gardens serve as living classrooms where learners gain practical knowledge about nutrition, sustainability, environmental care, and food production. They learn valuable life skills while developing an appreciation for healthy eating and community responsibility.
At MasiSports+, we believe that thriving schools build thriving communities. The success of these gardens shows what is possible when schools, learners, and partners work together to create lasting impact.
A special thank you to ABSA, Urban Harvest, Masiphumelele Creative Hub, Carbon Calculated, The Real Thing, and Southern Africa Food Lab for their collaboration and support.
