Our MasiSports ambassador named a Bok!

scarra ntubeni

We at MasiSports couldn’t be prouder of our ambassador and friend, Scarra Ntubeni, following last week’s announcement that he’s been included in the 46 man squad for the upcoming British and Irish Lions tour.

President of SA Rugby Mark Alexander says, “The British & Irish Lions tour occurs once every 12 years so it’s a very special occasion.”
“In most instances, it comes around only once in a Springbok player’s career, so I would like to congratulate the players who have been selected and wish them luck as they prepare to defend their crown”, continues Alexander.

Scarra has been waiting a long time for this, but the Stormers hooker believes his time has come. “I’ve been working really hard, going to training early, staying fit, I’ve lost weight, and I’m ready for this,” he says.

His moment in the sun has been a long time coming. Scarra was called up for the three-Test end of year tour in 2013 but Heyneke Meyer never gave him a shot on the field. In 2016, he was again included in the squad for the three-Test against Ireland, but Allister Coetzee failed to give him a shot at a match. It wasn’t until 2019, after coming back from injury stronger than ever, that Rassie Erasmus handed him a Test debut against Argentina, and the crowd went wild.

We wish Scarra all the luck in the world as he heads off to the intensive three-week training camp in Bloemfontein on Monday.
