Thirty five athletes, Ukhanyo’s principal and deputy, 20 staff members and 12 coaches descended onto Zwaanswyk school for the zonal athletics meeting in the south of Cape Town. There were 18 schools competing and Ukhanyo was placed 4th. A particularly good result. Seven athletes were chosen to go through to the next athletics trials meeting.
Imyoli Ndabambi, Linathi Ntangenkabi and Ayoli Magidigidi came first, second and third in the under-11 12 000-meter race. What an achievement! We entered the shot put for the first time and Uminathis Senedenqi made it through to the next round.
The school staff and coaches worked so hard each day after school preparing the children for the race. That and the recent triangular athletics meeting at Fish Hoek Primary prepared our team so well.
The Ingrid Wheeler field again allowed the athletes to practice at school.
So many blessings for this great school.
